The Bend calls for funds to help honour Molly

“We’d climb the mulberry tree. We loved her gardenand so did Molly,” Becsaid.

Tragically Molly died of a gunshot wound at the family homeearlier this month.

Herex-husband, 60-year-old Keith Owen Goodbun, has been charged with herdeath andsix other offences including breaching an apprehended violence order.

Becsaid Mollywas like a second mum, an extended family member to many in the close-knit Horseshoe Bend community.

As a show of support for the family, Bechas set up a Go Fund Me page to help raise funds for Molly’s funeral andMaitland women’s shelter Carrie’s Place.

“Molly and her daughtershave never been a family to ask for favours or help.

“They have always been so giving and have never done it as tough asthey have doneover the past few years,” Bec said.

“I started the page because I just want people to help them, especially after all the volunteer work Mollydid for the community.”

Bec, who still lives with her family in Bella Street,said growing up across the road from the Goodbuns was like growing up with a second family.

“I spent a lot of time at their home,” Bec said.

“I’ve known Mollyall my life and her death has devastated us.She was such a lovely lady.”

Becsaid Rachel and Bionca were completely shattered.

“Mollywasn’t just their mother but their best friend.They’re totally devastated and struggling.

“It is still hard to process and my heart absolutely breaks for them,” she said.

“Molly wasloved by many and everyone who knew her would say she was the kindest, most caring and loving lady.”

Mollyvolunteered for many years at The Salvation Army and Dr Riley’s in Maitland.

“She loved to help others and also made some lifelong friends,” Becsaid.

“Molly was a beautiful, loving and generous woman and loved her girls immensely. This has totally devastated them.

“The Go Fund Me page willhelp with costs for hermemorial headstoneas Victims Services and Support will now be paying for the funeral.

“Any money leftwill be donated in Molly’s name to Carrie’s Place to help as many women as possible.”
