Solly North 10/101 DEF BY South Port 2/101.South Port had a close victory over the more fancied Solly North team. Solly North batted first and were bowled out in 46.3 overs for 101. Elbows Trezise continued his good start to the season making 25 but will need to work on making this starts into a big score as he finds ways to get out when he is set easily. Thorn, more known for his batting than bowling, ripped through the batting taking 5/28. South Port took the slow and steady route with the run chase passing the score two down and in the 48th over. Thorn capped off hisman of the match performance with 47* with captain Craig 26*. A morale boosting win for the pirates after an opening two games and they will be looking to push on with their season.

Wandearah 8/154 DEF Props 107.Wandearah had a comfortable victory in the grand final rematch albeit against an under-strength Props. Wandearah batted first and posted 154. Athanasos felt the pressure of media expectation and used as motivation in his team’s top score of 48 although admits he should have cashed in. Congdon added some late runs making 31 as Stephenson bamboozled the batters taking 3/27. Props never really got going in the run chase loosing regular wickets to be bowled out for 109 in the 31st over. Fraser Wyatt batted well for the Props team making a solid 30 in the middle order with Nelson Ferme being chief wicket taker taking 3/28. Props will be buoyed with the return on Wyatt and Fowler for the next encounter between last year’s grand finalists.

B GRADE.Risdon 1/92 DEF Wandearah 8/89.Risdon applied the noose as they strangled the Rams’ batters to just 8/89 after 35 overs. Davis batted the entire innings making 39 with Swan making 20. The wickets were shared around with Congdon and Reed taking 2 each. Risdon eased to victory in the 25th over as the usual suspect Anderson made 58* and Mills 20 with Black the solitary wicket taker.

Port Germein 6/78 DEF Solly North 77.Port Germein had a comfortable win over a much improved Solly North side by 4 wickets. Solly North batted first and again failed to fire with Craig Johnson 31 and Alexander 11 only making double digits. Twigden opened the bowling taking 3/31. Port Germein lost regular wickets but the rock, Dan Pine 33*, finished the game off with Wauchope down the other end. Alexander bowled with pace and vigour taking 5/17 offhis 8.

Props 10/127 DEF BY Warnertown 9/178.The Wombats firmed as premiership favourites with a solid 51 run win over Props. The Bats put together solid partnerships throughout with Taylor, recruit of the winter so far, making 76 and Brooks 22. Some clever bowling from Allison and Rafferty saw them pick up 3 apiece. Props went after the runs hard with Pellegrini top scoring with 55 although he lacked any real support. O’Donohue and Hill both grabbed 3 scalps on the way to victory.
